John Tompkins, born in Lafayette, Indiana, brings a global perspective and a deep commitment to justice to his legal practice. After earning a B.S. in Business Economics from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business and serving eight years as an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army, John pursued his passion for law at Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law.
In 1996, he founded Tompkins Law in Indianapolis, focusing exclusively on criminal defense. With decades of experience in State and Federal criminal trial advocacy, post-conviction matters, and appeals, John has built a reputation for delivering exceptional representation and results. Today, Tompkins Law is a team of six seasoned attorneys specializing in litigation across diverse practice areas, with John’s expertise anchored in criminal defense.
